Focused Policy Assessment of Housing Adaptation Grants

As part of the reformed multi-annual budgetary framework, the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government undertook a Focused Policy Assessment of the Housing Adaptation Grant (HAG) schemes. These schemes are aimed at assisting people to carry out works and repairs to their private residences, thereby facilitating continued, independent, occupancy of their own homes by older people and people with a disability.

This assessment examines the HAG schemes with a view to identifying the rationale and overall policy objectives of the programme and examining their continuing relevance, as well as identifying the level and trend of the financial inputs to the grant schemes and, based on outputs achieved, determining the efficiency with which those financial inputs are allocated.
